Moroni 7:35&37

Hey everyone!

Yesterday I got the best news ever... Hossein and Leila are being baptized on Saturday!! I am so excited! And I'll be able to go back and visit my favorite area and see two of my past companions. It's gonna be another great week.

Things in Surrey have been going really good. Our friend, Arthi, is really excited to be baptized. We let her pick a day and she picked November 23rd- the soonest date possible for her. Arthi is the cutest Fijian woman! She is a single mom of two little boys and has so much faith. She has been going through some really tough times the past few months. For a while she had been really hesitant to set a baptismal date because she missed her first two already, but while she was cooking dinner for us last week she just stopped and said, "You know, it's the weirdest thing, but I keep on have a thought that if I get baptized, things will get better. I am ready to be baptized." She is willing to do whatever it takes now to be baptized and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Me and Sister Tanner are so excited for her because we know that being baptized and having the Holy Ghost will make her life better. She needs that constant guidance and comfort.

Last night was an Indian celebration called Daliwal. Not exactly sure what it's all about but there were lots of fireworks everywhere. When we pulled up to our house there was a family setting off fireworks right across the street from us. It was the most intense thing I've ever seen. They did not know how to use fireworks. They were carrying their children and jumping over the fireworks and launching fireworks out of their hands straight at our car. Then one firework tipped and shot right at a womans leg and almost set her on fire, but that didn't stop them. They finally gave up when another firework tipped and launched into their neighbors backyard. It was so entertaining haha. Also terrifying. It was a miracle that nothing set on fire. Proof to me that the day of miracles has not ceased.

I love you all!!

Sleep Tight

Hey yall!

Sorry I don't have tons of time left to email, but the past two weeks have been great! I got attacked by bed bugs and had to move apartments. Surrey is great, the trees are pretty now that it's fall. We have finally been able to meet a lot of the people that the last sisters had been teaching and they are amazing ❤ I love them so much!

We got to teach President and Sister Wahlen's grandkids this week! It was so awesome. We taught about the importance of the Book of Mormon. It helped me to focus this week on how much the Book of Mormon means to me. If you haven't been reading the Book of Mormon daily, DO IT! It will change your life and make you so much happier!

I love you all!

SO HAPPY

Hey y'all!

This week was AWESOME! The day after transfers President Wahlen called and gave me the best news I've ever heard.... Hossein and Leila have been approved for baptism!! I am so excited! Plus, he said he would let me ride with him and Sister Wahlen back up to North Shore for the baptism when it happens. I love them so much and I am so excited to be able to see them take this huge step in following Jesus Christ. I'm even more excited because I know that in one year they will be able to be sealed to their two kids forever! The gospel of Jesus Christ is the best thing in the entire world. It just makes me so happy and I'm so happy to be able to see other people find the joy that comes from it as well. We also have a baptism with our new friend Elena that we just met yesterday! She's so awesome and is so excited to be baptized

We had the nicest rejection of all time this week. We knocked on the door and this man answers and you can tell he's baking something because the house smells soooo good. We introduce ourselves as missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and he just tells us to wait a sec and then walks away. He comes back with two pastries on a plate, tells us to take them and that they are homemade and says "I am not Christian, I am happy with my faith, have a good night, goodbye." And closes the door. We didn't know how to feel hahah. The pastries were really good though!

Other than that this week was crazy haha. Surrey is a pretty fun area. We are still trying to get to know all the people we are teaching. A few of them won't talk to us because they're sad the last sisters left but we are working through the members that they are friends with. They just need some time, but I am excited to meet them.

I love you all!

For all the Psych fans: we went to where Psych is filmed! We saw the Psych office and the pier! It's in a little town called White Rock (hence the white rock) near Surrey.

The pastries the man gave us...

We're Home But We're Stuck In The Car...

Hey everyone!!

It's been such a great week! We met the cutest Brazilian family and set baptismal dates with the parents for November! Earlier this week President and Sister Wahlen came up to interview for Hossein and Leila for their request for baptism. President Wahlen says that it is very likely they will be approved, so now we are just waiting to hear back from the Area Presidency! They should be able to be baptized this month. And also... I just got the news that I'm being transferred. So yeah, that's pretty awesome hahah.

I'm being transferred to Surrey and my new companion will be Sister Tanner. She's been my Sister Training Leader the past few transfers and so I've spent a lot of time with her on exchanges and splits. She's so much fun! I'm really excited to be her companion! But I am so sad to be leaving North Shore. It has been my favorite and I absolutely adore all the people I have met (especially the Persians).

A few nights ago, Sister Macfarlane and I were sitting in the car calling people before going in for the night and she looks up and just goes, "THERE'S A BEAR OUTSIDE OUR CAR!" I thought she was joking but I look up and right in front of us is a black bear just standing in the road!! By then it was 9pm and we needed to text our district leader that we made it home so we just said "We're home but we're stuck in the car because there's a bear outside." Then a car came and the bear ran into the neighbors yard so we sat in the car for like 10 minutes until we decided to make a run for it hahah. Luckily no one was mauled by the neighborhood bear.

I'm so excited for General Conference! I'm sure everyone is saying this, but go with a question and you will find an answer. I know that Heavenly Father will speak to you through His Prophets and Apostles.

I love you all!!

The Twin Authority

Hey y'all!

It's been a pretty awesome week on the North Shore! Funny moment for the week- a guy came to church claiming he had the most important name in the universe, he is the chief of North America, he is the Twin Authority figure of the world, only twins will be saved in the end, and that he is "the unrecognized leader of the Mormon church". Hahah never a dull moment as a missionary.

This week we have Zone Conference with four zones combined because Elder Whiting from the Seventy is coming. I'm really excited. He is having all of us answer the question "What does the Book of Mormon mean to me?" and write it down. It has been so good to reflect on what the Book of Mormon means to me and how it has changed my life. In short, the Book of Mormon is what has brought me the most peace and happiness in my life. It has been a constant source of light and has drawn me nearer to Christ than anything else!

I'm sure some of you have heard, but two elders in this mission got in a bad accident on Friday and are in critical condition. Please pray for them! We have been praying for them and their families.

I hope you all have a great week!

HAPPY

Hey everyone!

Sorry, I don't have tons of time to write a good email today! And sorry if I don't respond to personal emails you've sent me I swear I'll respond next week!

North Shore is amazing, all the Persians are amazing, and this gospel is the most amazing! The past few days I have come to know that the promise we get in our call letters that "more happiness that you have yet to experience await you as you... serve the Lord in this labor of love" is REAL!

Nothing will bring you greater happiness than doing what the Lord wants you to do. He wants you to do it because He knows that it is exactly what will bring you the most happiness!!

Love you all!

The Sistrict

Hey everyone!!

Sorry I didn't email last week. We got to go to the temple for pday! It was so amazing, it always is.

We started a new transfer and I'm staying here in North Shore! Sister Horton got transferred to Surrey, so I got a new companion. Her name is Sister Macfarlane and she's from Bright, Ontario. She's really, really fun!

We are expecting to hear back about Eli's request for baptism this week! We are praying so hard that she will be approved. I have grown to love Eli so much! It's crazy how people who were strangers 6 weeks ago are now people who I love. But that's the gospel of Jesus Christ! It's all about love

My district this transfer is kind of interesting... it's our district leader and his companion and then 3 sets of sisters! An entire district of sisters haha! It's gonna be so fun.

Well, I don't have much else to say so here's one of my favorite scriptures from the Book of Mormon!

"And the world, because of their iniquity, shall judge him to be a thing of naught; wherefore they scourge him, and he suffereth it; and they smite him, and he suffereth it. Yea, they spit upon him, and he suffereth it, because of his loving kindness and his long-suffering towards the children of men." 1 Nephi 19:9

Addictions Counselor

Hey everyone!

Tomorrow I hit my 6 month mark! I can't believe how fast 6 months have already flown by. I feel like I've already learned so much and I still have a year left! Missions are pretty amazing.

I can't even remember what happened this week... We did have a lady tell us she saw Jesus Christ for 2 days in the Spirit World and that He let her come back to earth to be an addictions counselor... as she was sitting on her front porch smoking the whole time we were there haha. It was an interesting conversation.

We also got to have President and Sister Wahlen come to our apartment to do companionship study with us! They are so amazing! I'm really grateful for them. President Wahlen is just the best and so in tune with the Spirit and Sister Wahlen is like our mom away from home

Here's my favorite quote from this week-

"It is not enough for anyone just to go through the motions. The commandments, ordinances, and covenants of the gospel are not a list of deposits required to be made in some heavenly account. The gospel of Jesus Christ is a plan that shows us how to become what our Heavenly Father desires us to become."

It's from Dallin H. Oaks talk "The Challenge to Become". If you haven't read it, go read it! It's soooo good. This life is the time to prepare to meet God. Not just by checking things off the list, but by becoming like His Son, Jesus Christ.

I love you all!

Love,
Sister Rigby

Too Many Emotions

Hey y'all!

Yet another great week in the CVM 🇨🇦 Also, Happy BC Day!! I'm not exactly sure what BC Day is but I know it's the reason we have p-day on Tuesday this week...

Anyway, this week was great for a lot of reasons. My favorite part of this week was a Japanese girl we met at a bus loop named Yuri who came to church with us this Sunday and wants to be baptized!!

She has no religious background but she came to church for the first time in her life and the first thing she said to us was "So how do I become Christian? Do I need to get baptized?" So now we are teaching her and preparing her for baptism!! It is so true that God will lead us to those who are prepared.

Another really great thing from this week was that President Wahlen invited us and our friend Eli to come to Richmond and watch the BYU Idaho choir perform. It was so amazing!! I literally cried the entire time... some girls from the choir came up to me after and hugged me and told me I was making them cry hahah oops.

Quick update on Eli- she just has a few more documents she needs to get to us and then we will send them in and wait to see if she gets approval to be baptized from the Area Presidency!

I love you all! I know that true happiness and peace comes when you center your life on Jesus Christ and His gospel, so DO IT! Do it by studying the Book of Mormon every single day, it will change your life! I promise:)
