It's Already Been One Week?!

Hi everybody!

First week in the MTC... I don't even know how to describe it. The first few days I felt every single emotion possible haha. But I love it here! I'm sure you've all heard the announcement that we can call our families on pdays!!! That means these emails might not be weekly anymore... but we'll see lol. I wish everybody could've seen the excitement in the MTC! Two sisters had walked back into our classroom after practicing a lesson with our teacher and told us that we could call home on pdays now and we thought they were lying. But then we checked our emails and saw the announcement! Everybody was so excited and all the missionaries left their classes and started freaking out in the hall. It was so hard to focus on anything else the rest of the day. After class we were walking down to lunch and saw two sisters who had pday that day running down the sidewalk with their ipads crying and talking to their families! I got really excited to call my family but then realized I still had to wait five days:/ Lots of people have been asking me how I feel about it. I am so excited! And so grateful! It will be really cool to have my family so involved in what I am doing and be able to get advice and encouragement from them face to face and get to call them on birthdays and big events.

My district is THE BEST!! We've had so much fun together and we laugh all the time but we also have been able to learn from each other and grow closer to our Savior. My companion is named Sister Solomon! She's from Alpine, Utah and has been going to BYU. Her twin sister is on a mission in Germany and left the MTC the day before we got here. We are the only ones in our district going to Vancouver, Canada. Two elders are going to England and should be in the England MTC but couldn't get visas in time. One of the elders going to England, Elder Ison, slipped on some ice and dislocated his knee. He's 6'8 so it was a long ways to fall hahaha. He had to go to the hospital with his companion, Elder Wood but he's okay now and got the brace off yesterday so all is well. The rest of our district is going to Melbourne, Australia. There's an entire district going to Vancouver with two sisters that are going to Hawaii so Sister Solomon and I are confused why we're not with the Vancouver people instead of the Hawaii sisters but we've realized we need to be in our district and it was definitely divine that we all ended up together. Our teachers are incredible! Their names are Sister Siebach and Brother Wilson and I am amazed by how much I have learned from them in just 6 days! And I still have two weeks!

On Saturday, we all got to practice teaching Brother Wilson pretending to be an investigator. Sister Solomon and I felt that our lesson went awful. We were on the same page the whole time... just the wrong page haha. We left feeling really discouraged and I was kind of nervous that it just meant I would be a bad teacher. Brother Wilson tried telling us that we did better than we think we did, but there was no hope trying to make us feel better because we didn't want to listen. Our Sister Training Leaders, Sister Hardy and Sister Stoddard, noticed we were disappointed in how it went and shared with us some really great advice and the scripture story about Christ walking on water and saving Peter when he was drowning because of his lack of faith (it's in Matthew 14:25-31). It was exactly what we needed to hear. Yeah, we messed up and didn't do the best, but we shouldn't doubt in ourselves because that means we are doubting the Lord. He is always with us and will help us as we teach. We took that advice and focused on listen to the spirit for our next lesson with a woman named Jocelyn that we'll be teaching for the next week and surprise surprise.... our lesson went great! Still not perfect but a LOT better than with Brother Wilson. This time we were on the same page and it
was the right page

When I first got here and met my Zone Leaders and sister training leaders I thought they were insane. They would laugh at things that weren't funny at all and they had only been here a week. Now that I've been here a week, I'm pretty sure I'm going crazy too but it's a good crazy haha. I laugh at stupid things but that makes it really easy to get happy and be in a good mood! So yeah, good crazy :)

Sorry this is so long haha, so much happens here in a day and it's been six. I wish I could tell you all everything. Well actually I wish you could all just experience for yourselves what it's like here! Part of me never wants to leave the MTC but I'm so excited to get to Vancouver!!

The church is true! I love you all!

Love,
Sister Rigby

We ran into two sisters going to the same mission as us! One is from Spain and the other is from American Samoa.
