🐥🐰🌷

Hey y'all!

Happy Easter! This week was great! So many miracles throughout the week, but my favorite experience happened yesterday.

So we invited a Japanese girl we met on the bus to church because I was singing. She wasn't religious at all, but as I sang Peace in Christ with Sister Nielsen and Sister Griffin, she felt the Spirit and started crying! Then I started crying hahah. But it was because I was so happy seeing someone else feel the Spirit for the first time. It was so sweet and I was so grateful for that, especially with all the rejections we've had and difficulty finding people.

Something I've been doing the past few weeks is during my nightly prayers I only say things I am grateful for. It was hard at first because there are so many things I need to pray for, but as I've expressed gratitude to my Heavenly Father every night I have felt so much love and been more aware of how much He blesses me each day! It's the best thing, I highly recommend it.

"If thou art merry, praise the Lord with singing, with music, with dancing, and with a prayer of praise and thanksgiving." D&C 136:28

It's Cultural

Hey y'all!

(Sister Neilsen gave me official Texan permission to say y'all even though I'm Utahn)

Some people have asked me what poutine is from my email last week so I'll explain. Poutine is French fries, gravy, and cheese curds... basically a heart attack. But so so good.

Anyways, I hope yall got to watch General Conference! If not (or if you don't know what it is), go check it out of churchofjesuschrist.org! It was so amazing! But when is it not amazing?

This week we had miracles! So Sister Daku and I were going to visit a member but we decided to knock all the doors on their street. We started knocking and asking people if we could sing them a song about Christ since Easter is this month. Up until then, 100% of the people we offered to sing to this transfer had said no, but this time 3 people said yes! The first dude wasn't really interested in church but he said we could sing just because he wants to have an open mind. The next man said no to us singing at first, but after a few minutes of us talking to him he changed his mind and let us sing! We sang I Know That My Redeemer Lives and he started to cry! We asked if we could come by again and he said we could the first week of May because he's going to Tennessee for a few weeks to visit his mom. The last lady that said yes was SO COOL! It was a really rainy day so after we sang, she let us into her house and we talked with her for 30 minutes! I remember me and Sister Daku looking at each other in complete shock when she let us in because this never happens!

Her name Alejandra and she had just barely gotten home from a Discipleship Training at her church when we knocked at the door. She had so many questions about what we do as missionaries and how we deal with rejection and stuff because she has a huge desire to share her faith with others. Then we found out that her husband, Michael, has a daughter that is a member of our church and lives in Utah! So Alejandra invited us to come back on Tuesday to come teach her and Michael more about our church! It was so crazy! Music softens hearts, my friends.

So many funny stories from this week but here's the most embarassing-
We had lunch at this woman's house and she's Fijian/Indian. We were eating and she was cooking more food and we didn't have any utensils so I look at Sister Daku and she shrugs and says "It's cultural" so we just start eating with our hands. The woman walks back to us and looks at me and starts laughing and says, "I was going to get you forks, do you want a fork?" Aghhh I was so embarrassed. Sister Daku thought it was pretty funny though.

I love you all! Remember that Christ knows you and knows exactly what you're going through! He also knows what is best for you so trust in His plan and in His timing. Be patient and stay focused on His gospel and everything will turn out better than you could have imagined.

Magic Tricks Needed

Hey y'all!

I'm gonna try and keep this week's email pretty short... Things are going real great here in Vancouver! We've been talking to lots of people and meeting with lots of members. We even got two new people to come to church with us! One of the girls that came cried and said she felt so much love and she wants to learn more! I love that no matter where you are in the world and no matter what ward you go to, it still feels like home and even people who have never been to our church before can feel that.

I have a challenge for you all- if you haven't read the Book of Mormon, read it! It will bless you in more ways than you can imagine. If you have read it, keep reading it and write down all the blessings that have come in your life from reading it! I did that this week and the list continues to grow. The Book of Mormon has filled my life with peace, direction, and happiness and it can do the same for every single one of you, I promise! I can feel so much power from that book just by holding it in my hands. Nothing has brought me closer to my Savior than by reading the Book of Mormon!

Okay funny story for the week-

So I have this "magic trick" that I show people where I have them hold a cut out part of a paper and I flip the rest of the paper over without them letting go... kinda hard to explain but most people think it's really cool and then we always tie in a gospel message with it. Well, I was sitting across from Sister Daku on the bus and there was a sad looking man in his twenties sitting next to me. Sister Daku goes "Show him the magic trick, he looks sad." and I'm like yeah okay I guess... so I show him my magic trick and he says, "Is that the only magic trick you have?" and I tell him yes and then he pauses and says, "Well you need a better one." Ummm... OUCH! So I say "Well do you have any magic tricks?" and he says no so I told him he can't make fun of my magic trick until he has a better one. So now I guess I need some cooler magic tricks so if anyone has any, please send them my way :)

I love you all! Don't forget to read the Book of Mormon!
