Cursed

Hey Everyone!

Sorry I didn't email last week! I spent most of the day with my zone so I didn't have time, plus I had just been sick with the flu the week before (we think I was cursed by the witch because it was right after we taught her) so there wasn't much to write about. Honestly, all the weeks are blurring together and I don't know what happened when haha. We had Zone Conference this week which was really great, as usual. President Wong is really amazing, I'm sad I only have one more transfer with him!

Our Zone Conference was focused on becoming better teachers. President Wong shared an object lesson where we had a big pitcher of water which represented all the knowledge of the gospel that we have that we want to share with others and we were supposed to pour all our knowledge into somebody's cup. Obviously when we poured the knowledge we had into the person's cup it just would overflow and get the person wet. We talked about how we need to be better at focusing on other people's needs and figuring out how big their cups are. Some people have huge cups and they are so ready to hear all about the gospel, other people have tiny cups and they can only take a little bit of knowledge. God knows where they are at so as long as we rely on Him and listen to the Spirit, we will be able to help people come unto Christ, no matter how small of a step it is!

I don't have much to share from this week, it was a little slow, but God is good! He is so aware of our every need, even the needs we don't know we have. He can give us the strength we need to do things we didn't think possible if we trust in Him. One of my favorite quotes by Gary E. Stevenson says "You have the Savior of the world on your side. If you seek His help and follow His directions, how can you fail?" It's so true! It's impossible to fail when you trust in the Lord. He knows what you need that will help you to become more like Him!

I hope you all have an amazing week!

Do You Believe in Magic?

Hey everybody!

I've almost been out on my mission for 3 months! Crazy! Vancouver is starting to warm up and so are the people. Everyone just seems happier when the sun is out.

This week was so good! We met with my Japanese friend, Airi, and got some sushi and talked about our church. It was a little difficult because her English isn't very good and she's not familiar with churches in Japan either. But she wants to learn more, we just have to pass her on to the YSA sisters and find someone who speaks Japanese. She told me that she's bringing her mom to church this October so she can hear me sing hahah.

We also got to teach a witch this week! The elders knocked on her door and said they'd send some sisters so we went, not really knowing what to expect, and found out she is a practicing witch. I've met a lot of interesting people out here but she's winning the prize for the strangest.

I got to go on splits with Sister Nielsen and Sister Lewis this week which was so much fun! I absolutely love all the sisters in my zone! I learn so much from them and I just love being around them.

I hope everyone is doing well! Remember, "You have the Savior of the world on your side. If you seek His help and follow His directions, how can you fail?" -Gary E. Stevenson

Bashin

Hey y'all!

(Sorry in advance for how long this is)

This has been quite the week... lots of bible bashers and lots of rejection. But what's new haha. The bible bashes are never fun but it's been especially frustrating and intense this week because every single lesson Sister Daku and I have had- this transfer and last transfer- have turned into bible bashes. The people who bash us intend to destroy our faith and our testimonies but every time it happens my testimony is a little bit stronger. As they've brought up questions and concerns that I don't have an answer to it requires me to rely completely on my testimony of the Book of Mormon. Even though I don't know everything and I can't solve people's concerns, I do know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God which means Joseph Smith was a prophet of God which mean the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is really Christ's restored church. All these people have to do is read the Book of Mormon and pray to God with real intent to know if it's true, but they never do.

I've been praying to develop the Christlike attribute of hope, and Heavenly Father is really pushing me to develop it lol. It's really easy to get discouraged when most people you talk to most days say no, or argue with you, or tell you you're condemned to Hell, or laugh at you. But there are people out there who will say yes and who you'll be able to help to feel the Spirit. Like my Japanese friends last Sunday! (We're meeting with them this Saturday so I'll update y'all next week) We just have to focus on the ones who are ready and continue in hope, knowing that Heavenly Father will place them in our path.

Missionary work is hard and frustrating and stressful, but it is so rewarding and so much fun! I have grown a ton and I'm learning how to really push myself. I'm learning skills that will prepare me for the rest of my life. Most importantly, I'm learning how to put all of my trust in my Heavenly Father and go to Him for my every need. He really is waiting to help you, you just need to reach out to Him in faith and then wait. The trials you are going through are strengthening you and and helping you to become more like Christ.

I'm going to share a quote that has helped me a lot this week that a friend shared with me last week by Russell M. Nelson- "When we comprehend His voluntary Atonement, any sense of sacrifice on our part becomes completely overshadowed by a profound sense of gratitude for the privilege of serving Him."

I hope everyone has a wonderful week! I love you all!
